Blenheim to Kaikoura

NZ time ...Saturday 14th January...6pm

Have now put on pictures from Rotorua to Kaikoura, so you might want to go back through blog to see them ....or not?!

Glorious weather today, hot and sunny. The hour and a half drive south was interesting, very different countryside compared to the North Island. Very few trees and parched/brown landscape of rolling hills. Also, started to see mountains inland, some with a bit of snow still on them.

We stopped on the way at Ohau Point, where there was a large Seal Colony basking and playing on the rocks. Against Jan's advice, Mike went a little further down the hillside to get closer pictures!

Arrived at Kaikoura lunchtime, had a bite to eat then spent the afternoon on the beach, Mike paddled. Back to B&B about 5pm to rest before going into town this evening.
