Lake Wanaka to Queenstown

NZ time... Saturday 21st January...9.30pm

Please note our hosts in Queenstown have been really good in allowing us Laptop access to load photos into our Blog....so lots of pics now on from Westport onwards for you to go back and see (especially Frans Josef Glacier).

Another GREAT day, not rushed but we did so much today and really enjoyed it all.  Helped by the weather being sunny and warm all day.

Left Wanaka B&B (not that good!) around 9am and took the Cardrona scenic route towards Queenstown, great scenery & views.

Detoured into Arrowtown (an old mining town) which was nice to see.

Then went to the Karawau Bungy Jumping site to watch a few crazies do their thing!

Next, we went to Gibbston Valley Winery, for wine tasting - a very nice Pinot Noir & quaffable Pinot Gris, amongst others! Luckily it was then time for lunch in the Winery courtyard, which comprised a selection of local cheeses followed by French style beignets (Jan's choice!) accompanied by more of the afore-mentioned wines.

Arrived at Queenstown B&B around 3.30pm, wonderful location with outstanding views, but a little out of town (but no worries, the local bus service is good).

Got bus into town and went up the Skyline Gondola for more great views over the lake and mountains.

This also gave us access to the Luge Run, which we both had a couple of runs on, great fun.

Chilled with a drink in the Skyline Bar before coming back down to town in the Gondola.

Had dinner in Speight's Lone Star bar, good food but huge portions, before getting bus back to B&B.
