Left Thames around 9.30am and arrived in Waitomo at 1pm, having stopped in Cambridge on the way.
Instead of doing the walking tour of the Glow Worm Caves, we decided to do the "Black Water Rafting" experience...FANTASTIC!...wet suits on & rubber ring in hand we descended into the caves, soon to be waist deep in water being guided to see amazing views of the glow worms...there are thousands of them attached to the cave ceilings & as you look up it looks just like a starry starry night...the experience also included floating through some deep water stretches, negotiating narrow passages, a 2m backwards fall into a pool and a 7m slide into deep water, where we both went under! At least they gave us a hot shower once back up above ground!
Had dinner at local pub & about to open a bottle of NZ Merlot on the B&B verandah.
WOW!! You're brave!
